848 foreigners fully comply with SOP at hostel

JASIN: Police left a hostel “empty-handed” after being unable to find any lapses in Covid-19 standard operating procedure compliance among 848 foreigners.

The operation to inspect the level of SOP compliance under the nationwide Ops Patuh was launched at 9am on Friday by Jasin OCPD, Deputy Supt Mispani Hamdan, with focus on the hostel of a poultry processing factory in Merlimau here.

In the seven-hour operation led by Asst Supt Fadilah Mohd Nor, who led a team of 15 police officers, along with enforcement officers from other related departments, each of the hostel’s occupants was thoroughly checked.

Insp G. Gunaaseellan, who was among the officers who conducted the check, said no compound notices were issued during the inspection.

“It’s good to note that the management has diligently adhered to the Covid-19 SOP,” he said when contacted yesterday.

He said the foreign workers had strictly observed the SOP when leaving and entering the hostel.

“It’s one of those rare occasions where the workers were very disciplined when it comes to complying with the Covid-19 SOP,” added Insp Gunaaseellan.

Melaka saw a dramatic spike in new cases yesterday, with 835 infections.

Previously, the highest daily number was 380, recorded on May 28.
