Joint op in Klang nets 38 mat rempit for racing and other road offences


KLANG: A joint operation between district and federal police led to the arrest of 38 mat rempit along the Shapadu Highway here on Sunday (June 20).

North Klang OCPD Asst Comm Nurulhuda Mohd Salleh said in a statement on Monday (June 21) that the operation was conducted from 5pm to 10pm.

"The suspects are aged between 16 and 25 years. Twelve were caught for racing.

"As many as 35 motorcycles were seized and brought back to North Klang for further inspection," she said, adding that 92 summonses were issued for various road offences.

Compound notices were also issued to all 38 for breaching Covid-19 standard operating procedures.

"The public is advised not to be involved in illegal racing. Parents are urged to monitor their children's movements," ACP Nurulhuda said.
