Johor Umno Youth has handed over GE15 candidate list to state party chief

JOHOR BARU: Johor Umno Youth has handed over its candidate list as part of the party’s preparation for the upcoming 15th general election (GE15).

State Umno Youth chief Mohd Hairi Mad Shah said he had handed over the list to state Umno chief Datuk Hasni Mohammad and the party youth chief Datuk Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki for their consideration and approval.

“It will depend on Hasni, who is also the Johor Mentri Besar, on whether or not to give the opportunity to the wing’s candidate list for GE15.

“But it is very important for the party to field new younger candidates and prove that the messages given by party leaders of wanting to rejuvenate Umno are not rhetoric,” he added.

Mohd Hairi said this when met after giving out free petrol and lunch to delivery riders at a petrol station in Taman Pelangi here on Sunday (June 20).

He added that when it comes to fielding new faces in a general election, it was a problem that had plagued Umno and Barisan Nasional for a long time.

“However, I do hope that it will change under the leadership of Hasni and party president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi,” he said.

Hairi admitted that in the last general election, state Umno and Barisan Nasional failed to get the majority support of the voters, in particular the youth, causing them to lose the state.

“Voters, in particular the youth, can see and judge for themselves.

“I am sure that in the coming election, the youth will throw their support behind us once more,” he added.
