It's 'rationale', not 'rational" – Art Harun rebuts word used in report on his comment on Parliament meeting

PETALING JAYA: Datuk Azhar Azizan Harun (pic) says he has been misquoted in a Malay daily report, which has also been picked up by several other portals and news outlets.

The Dewan Rakyat Speaker said what he actually meant was that the Prime Minister had "set out the rationale" for Parliament to reconvene in September or October, and not that it was "a rational decision" to do so.

“I would like to refer to the report in a Malay daily published on Thursday (June 17) titled: Jangkaan tarikh sidang Parlimen 'rasional'. I did not say this.

“What I said was that the Prime Minister, in his announcement of the National Recovery Plan on June 15, had said that Parliament would reconvene in September or October and that he had spelled out his rationale for such a decision.

“Never did I say that the decision was a rational one.

“I would also like to clarify that I have not issued any statement or made any comments with regard to the statement issued by Istana Negara on June 16,” Azhar, better known as Art Harun, said when contacted later on Thursday (June 17).

Earlier, the Malay daily reported Azhar as saying that the Prime Minister's plan to reconvene Parliament around September or October seemed "rational".

It added that the Dewan Rakyat Speaker had stated that Muhyiddin had the right to set the date for Parliament to reconvene as he deemed fit.
