Cops looking for man said to have hit child, wife in Beaufort


KOTA KINABALU: The police are looking for a man in Beaufort district who allegedly slapped his child and wife before threatening to hang her as he could not stand his son’s crying.

The 27-year-old was resting at home in Kampung Membakut Jaya when his one-year-old son started crying at around 3pm on Wednesday (June 16).

Beaufort OCPD Deputy Supt Yusoff Zaki Mat Yaacob said it is believed that the toddler's crying had angered the man who then started beating and slapping his wife and the boy.

“He also allegedly threatened to hang and kill his wife when she tried to stop him,” he said.

The suspect later left home, he added.

“The wife lodged a police report,” DSP Yusoff Zaki said, adding that the woman sustained bruises to her face.

The police are tracking down the suspect.

The case is being investigated for causing hurt and threatening a person.
