Half-sunken Penang Ferry at Bagan Dalam floats again


BUTTERWORTH: The half-sunken Penang Ferry berthed at the Bagan Dalam river is floating again, says Penang Port Commission (PPC) chairman Datuk Tan Teik Cheng.

He said the ferry was afloat at around 10pm on Tuesday (June 8).

“Our repair team will continue to pay full attention and inspect the condition of the ferry from time to time to ensure that this incident will not happen again, ” he said.

Tan added that when all repair work has been completed, the ferry will be housed at the Tanjung City Marina and it will be transformed into a floating museum.

“I would also like to thank the PPC and Penang Port Sdn Bhd (PPSB) repair team for their efforts and professional actions, ” he said in a statement on Wednesday (June 9).
