KOTA KINABALU: A contractor in Menggatal found a body hanging from a tree branch on Tuesday (June 8) when trying to find the source of a foul odour outside his office, says Kota Kinabalu OCPD Asst Comm Zaidi Abdullah.
He said the body was decomposing when it was retrieved from the tree by the Teluk Gentisan river.
“The deceased looks to be someone in his 30s, is about 153cm tall and was wearing a white T-shirt, dark long pants, red cap and slippers, ” he said.
ACP Zaidi said the identity of the man has yet to be determined and is calling on those who have lost a relative or friend to come forward and help in identifying the victim.
He said police did not find any signs of foul play in this case as yet.
“His body was taken down and later sent to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital to be tested for Covid-19 before a post-mortem, ” said ACP Zaidi.
