Wanita PKR eyeing nine more seats in GE15

KUALA LUMPUR: Wanita PKR has identified nine more parliamentary seats to contest in the next general election (GE15) to achieve its target of having 20 MPs from the wing.

Its chief Fuziah Salleh said the wing’s election committee was also identifying potential candidates.

She said Wanita PKR would also work hard to retain its 11 parliamentary seats.

The Kuantan MP said as of April, the wing accounted for 408,038 of the total 1,034,093 party membership.

“The aspiration of having a minimum 30% of women as policymakers has been bandied about for far too long.

“We don’t want it to remain a mere rhetoric and just a note in the history book. We want it done, ” she said in her address at the wing’s Congress themed “Aspire to be an Inspiration” yesterday.

Also at the virtual meet were PKR Advisory Council chairman Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail.

The event was held in conjunction with the PKR National Congress 2020. — Bernama
