Sabah health director: Message claiming Covid-19 India variant in Telipok is fake


KOTA KINABALU: A message claiming that the Indian variant of Covid-19 has been detected in Telipok, Sabah is fake news, says state Health Department director Datuk Dr Christina Rundi.

“Fake news, ” she simply replied in a text message when asked about these messages on Saturday (June 5).

According to the circulated messages, the Indian variant of Covid-19 has been detected in Taman Wangsa Telipok.

The messaged claimed that Taman Wangsa is under an enhanced movement control order because of this and that out of 12 people who were tested, nine came back positive for Covid-19.

Taman Wangsa is among several localities placed under an enhanced MCO from June 6 to 19.

The other localities are Kampung Gusi Kinarut, Kampung Tengah Kinarut and Kampung Benoni in Papar as well as Lorong Ulu Sibuga 5 & 9 and Taman Mawar Phase 7 in Sandakan.
