Penangites allowed to use their bicycles to workplace, deliver food during lockdown, says MBPP

GEORGE TOWN: Penangites who cycle to their workplace, use bicycles to deliver food or as personal transportation can now do so during the lockdown period, says the Penang Island City Council (MBPP).

However, it can only be done with special approval and in accordance with the standard operating procedures, said the city council on Facebook on Wednesday (June 2).

The permission for individuals who use bicycles as a mode of transportation or to the workplace must have an employer's confirmation letter or personal documentation such as utility bills as proof to the authorities.

The city council also encouraged cyclists to wear helmets every time when they are cycling.

The approval, however, does not apply for leisure purposes.
