Cops record statement from Neelofa’s mother over Instagram post

SHAH ALAM: The police have recorded the statement of the mother of popular celebrity Neelofa - Datin Noor Kartini Noor Mohamed - in connection with an Instagram post that allegedly insulted the Sultan of Johor.

Selangor CID chief Senior Asst Comm Nik Ezanee Mohd Faisal said the statement was recorded on Tuesday (June 1).

"We are in the midst of completing the investigation before referring the matter to the Deputy Public Prosecutor.

"Besides the celebrity's mother, we are also in the midst of recording the statement of her worker.

"I hope the public can be patient as we are investigating the matter thoroughly," he said when contacted on Tuesday.

It was reported that Noor Kartini, 54, claimed that she only realised the issue with her Insta Story when it went viral on social media.

"I want to explain that the incident occurred due to the negligence of one of my staff members, who had access to my Instagram account," she said.

On Monday (May 31), the police started an investigation over Noor Kartini's Instagram post that allegedly insulted the Sultan of Johor.

Brickfields OCPD Asst Comm Anuar Omar had said a report was lodged on the matter.

The case was later handed over to Selangor police.
