JOHOR BARU: Thirty people, including teenagers, were slapped with a RM1,500 compound each here for violating Covid-19 standard operating procedures (SOP).
Johor Baru South OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Padzli Mohd Zain said the compounds were issued at three separate raids at two different apartment buildings around the Johor Baru area.
"They were believed to have rented the apartment units for a few days to celebrate Hari Raya together.
"They were found gathering in the living room of the apartments and were not practising physical distancing," he said in a statement here on Wednesday (May 26).
He noted that a total of RM45,000 worth of compounds were issued under the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases (Measures within Infected Local Areas) Regulations 2021 to the individuals, who were between the ages of 16 and 29.
"We would like to remind the public that serious action will be taken against those who violate the SOPs," he said, urging the public to adhere to the guidelines.
