1MDB trial continues today

KUALA LUMPUR: The 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) trial has been postponed to today as Datuk Seri Najib Razak is on medical leave after undergoing an eye surgery.

The High Court was informed of the former premier’s condition by his lead counsel Tan Sri Muhammad Shafee Abdullah here yesterday.

He told presiding judge Justice Collin Lawrence Sequerah that Najib had undergone the surgery last Thursday and was given the MC for seven days beginning Friday last week.

Muhammad Shafee said a copy of the MC had been passed to the court.

Justice Sequerah, however, said he was allowing only a one-day postponement and that the hearing would continue at 9.30am today.

The Pekan MP was absent from the court complex yesterday.
