Police bust online gambling den in Cheras


KUALA LUMPUR: Police have busted an online gambling centre in Cheras.

City CID chief Senior Asst Comm Saiful Annuar Yusoff, in a statement yesterday, said the raid on Tuesday at a condominium in Desa Petaling resulted in the arrest of eight suspects.

“As many as 10 laptops, 18 handphones and 22 sim cards were seized during the raid. All suspects, aged between 18 and 40, will be remanded.

“Preliminary investigations showed that the call centre had advertised their activities locally and that the premises was rented since April at a monthly rate of RM3,000.

“Each worker was paid about RM2,000 a month,” he said.
