Covid-19: Umno deputy permanent chairman at critical stage

PETALING JAYA: Umno deputy permanent chairman Datuk Seri Rizuan Abd Hamid (pic), who tested positive for Covid-19, is currently at a critical stage, reported Malay daily Sinar Harian.

This was confirmed by Umno secretary-general Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan, who said Rizuan is currently warded at the intensive care unit (ICU) of Universiti Malaya Medical Centre.

“The information about Rizuan getting Covid-19 is true. His status in ICU is also true, ” he was quoted as saying in a text message on Tuesday (May 18).

At the same time, Ahmad said briefly that Rizuan’s wife Tan Sri Madinah Mohamad, who was a former auditor-general, is also receiving treatment at the ICU ward, but did not disclose if she was Covid-19 positive.

It was reported that Rizuan, who is also the party’s Kepong division chief, tested positive on May 1 before being quarantined on May 3 at the hospital and moved to the ICU ward on the same day.
