Covid-19: 17 surau, mosques ordered to close temporarily for sanitisation in Perak

IPOH: A total of 17 surau and mosques in Perak have been ordered to close temporarily after Covid-19 cases were detected.

Perak Islamic Affairs Department (JAIPk) director Datuk Mohd Yusop Husin said several district religious offices were also ordered to close temporarily.

“Of the 17,12 of them are located in Ipoh.

“JAIPk’s halal department office in Jalan Labrooy and the Bagan Datuk Islamic religious office are also closed temporarily for sanitation.

“The re-opening date for all these premises will be announced later, ” he added.

A message listing all the surau and mosques that were ordered to close went viral on social media.

According to the message, the affected premises included Masjid Jamek Kampung Melayu, Masjid Raja Nazrin Shah, Masjid As-Saadah Kampung Dato Ahmad Said Tambahan 2, Surau As-Syakirin RPT Batu 10 Ulu Chepor, Surau Al Hidaya RPT Jelapang Jaya and Surau Al Falah in Taman Soon Choon.

Separately, the Perak Islamic Religion and Malay Customs Council (MAIPk) has also closed their counters at Kompleks Islam Darul Ridzuan, Urban Transformation Centres (UTCs) and MAIPk district offices in the state.

According to the Zakat Perak-MAIPk Facebook page, the counters would be closed from May 17 until 21 for sanitation.
