Cops: No protests in Batu Pahat

JOHOR BARU: Police have dispelled talk that a gathering was held in Batu Pahat to show solidarity with those arrested for a rioting incident in the district on Thursday.

Batu Pahat OCPD Asst Comm Ismail Dollah noted that a video showing a group of men on motorcycles gathering near a petrol station had been circulated on social media.

“We urge the public not to make any speculation that could threaten public harmony, ” he said yesterday.

ACP Ismail said the video was tweeted out by someone with a message that the youngsters in the video were showing solidarity with their friends who had been arrested.
