Man to be charged with sodomising and killing baby

PETALING JAYA: The husband of a babysitter will be charged today with sodomising and murdering a nine-month-old boy, police said.

The baby was rushed in an unconscious state to Sungai Buloh Hospital by the man on April 28.

Checks revealed injuries to the baby’s anus, believed to have been caused by a blunt object.

Petaling Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Mohamad Fakhrudin Abdul Hamid said police were alerted by a medical officer of the hospital at 1.04am that day.

“A local man took the baby to the hospital in an unconscious state and claimed to be the babysitter.

“The baby was pronounced dead and checks revealed injuries and bleeding in the anus, ” he told reporters yesterday.

He said that at about 8pm the next day, a team from the PJ Serious Crimes Unit (D9) and Kelana Jaya police arrested a man and woman at a house in Kelana Jaya.

Among the items seized were two sex toys wrapped in a shirt, he said.

“The cause of death is believed to be suffocation, ” he said, adding that both suspects tested positive for methamphetamine.

The man has two prior drug- related offences.

He said the man would be charged with murder and committing carnal intercourse against the order of nature, while the woman would be turned into a prosecution witness.

In a separate case, ACP Fakhrudin said a student was stabbed to death and thrown off a balcony over debts and drug distribution.

“We were alerted at 1.17pm last Thursday that a man had fallen from the balcony of a building at Damansara Perdana.

“The 24-year-old victim fell near a building under construction and had other injuries, which led us to believe he was murdered, ” he said, adding that a post-mortem revealed that the victim had been stabbed multiple times.

He said police later arrested a 24-year-old student at a parking lot in Bandar Sunway at about 4.25pm on Sunday.

“Checks revealed that the suspect had injuries on both arms, believed to be sustained during a struggle with the deceased.

“He received at least 100 stitches at a private medical centre, ” he said, adding that the suspect led police to a house in Taman Sri Kuching, where his bloodied clothes were found.

He said they believed the victim was thrown from the 26th floor of the building.

“The motive for the murder is believed to be dissatisfaction over a RM25,000 debt and drug sales, ” he added.
