PETALING JAYA: The Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM), which came up with heartwarming video "Most Perfect Raya" showing a family's Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration during the Covid-19 pandemic, has been commended for facing up to these challenging times.
“This Hari Raya Aidifitri, so many families are affected by the pandemic and movement control order, not least our friends in the aviation industry who must continue to ensure overall airworthiness and safety are never compromised," said Transport Minister Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong.
“CAAM has produced this heartwarming clip for Hari Raya I wish to share with you,” he added in a Facebook post on Wednesday (May 12).
The minister said he was impressed by the video because it featured CAAM employees as the main performers.
Among them are management services director Dayang Siti Noor Jehan, air navigation services standards director Rohdizad Ariffin, and aircraft worthiness inspector Muhammad Syawal Zulkofli.
Dr Wee thanked CAAM and its chief executive officer Capt Chester Voo, extending Hari Raya wishes to the team and aviation industry.
In the five minutes-plus video, a young girl named Mia expresses pride that her entire family works in the aviation industry and relates how they celebrate Hari Raya this year under the new norm.
Mia offers a heartwarming glimpse of family at a nearby homestay.
Unlike previous celebrations where there were large gatherings on the eve of Hari Raya with fireworks displays, she says this time her family instead marked the occasion with a simple meal and playing board games such as Scrabble and the traditional game "teng-teng".
The video ends with Mia saying that celebrating Hari Raya does not necessarily mean having ketupat, lamps and fireworks but more importantly, spending time with loved ones.
“This is why it's the most perfect Raya for me,” she says at the end of the video.
