Policeman arrested for allegedly kicking security guard in PJ


PETALING JAYA: A police corporal has been arrested for allegedly kicking a security guard on duty at a guard post at Taman Sri Manja here because he was slow to open a boom gate.

Petaling Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Mohamad Fakhrudin Abdul Hamid said the incident occurred at around 12.45pm on Sunday (May 9) along Jalan PJS 3/40.

"A police officer lodged a report on the matter after watching a video of the incident on Monday (May 10).

"Investigations revealed an argument erupted between the policeman and the 59-year-old guard for not opening the boom gate fast enough, forcing the suspect to stop his motorcycle and wait," he said in a statement on Tuesday (May 11).

He said the suspect claimed that the security guard has used foul language on him.

"The suspect then kicked the man in the stomach and threatened to hit the man with his helmet," he said.

He added that the victim was sent to the Universiti Malaya Medical Centre for treatment.

He said the suspect, a police corporal with the Petaling Jaya police headquarters has been arrested for further investigation.

"We are investigating the case for criminal intimidation and causing hurt. We will not go easy on any officer or personnel who commits crime," he said.
