Cops detain man for possession of fake pistol near KL flats

KUALA LUMPUR: Police have arrested a man for possession of a fake pistol near a flat along Jalan Seri Sentosa here.

Brickfields OCPD Asst Comm Anuar Omar said the incident occurred at around 2.40am on Tuesday (May 11).

"Police were on patrols there when they spotted a suspicious-looking car.

"We checked the vehicle and arrested a 52-year-old man and seized an imitation pistol, one object resembling a bullet and four mobile phones," he said in a statement on Tuesday.

He said checks revealed that the suspect had a prior criminal record.

"We have remanded the suspect for four days to help further investigations.

"The case has been classified under Section 36(1) of the Weapons Act 1960 for possessing an imitation gun with suspicion of using it to commit crimes," he said.
