MELAKA: A mother's love and guidance is a great blessing, says Chief Minister Datuk Seri Sulaiman Md Ali (pic).
"My mother's lap was my first place of learning. Even at my age, my mother still reminds me to be humble and not miss my prayers," he said in a Mother's Day tribute on Sunday (May 9).
Sulaiman said his 87-year-old mother Temah Abu has always been his inspiration.
"There is no substitute for the selfless relationship of a mother. My mother is a loving human who sacrificed many things for the needs of her eight children," he said, adding that his mother lives at his ancestral home in Alor Gajah.
Sulaiman said his mother is a disciplinarian and a no-nonsense person.
"She always tells all of her children to respect and serve everyone," he said.
Sulaiman said despite hardship, his parents - especially his mother - tried their best to provide his siblings and him with the best.
"Most importantly, she gave us knowledge, skills and abilities to competent and caring," he said.
He said that it is important to cherish parents when they are still around.
"I would like to also take the opportunity to pay my tribute to all mothers on this day.
Mothers always encourage and help her children no matter how old the children are," he added.
