Burnt body found by roadside identified as 50-year-old woman


KUALA TERENGGANU (Bernama): Police have identified a burnt body found at the side of Jalan Kuala Terengganu-Kelantan at Kampung Padang Air near Tepoh here on April 17 as a woman who had been reported missing.

Terengganu Criminal Investigation Department chief Asst Comm Mohd Marzukhi Mohd Mokhtar said the identity of the 50-year-old woman was confirmed based on the results of a deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) test conducted earlier.

"The body of the victim has been handed over to her family for funeral arrangements and it is understood that the remains will be claimed by the family at the hospital tomorrow, ” he said on Sunday (May 9).

A post by a Facebook user had gone viral on Sunday stating that the identity of the body had been confirmed as their family member who had been reported missing.

On April 17, the body of an unidentified person with burns all over was found at the side of Jalan Kuala Terengganu-Kelantan at Kampung Padang Air near Tepoh by a cleaning crew member.

The victim was said to have been killed at another location before being brought to where the body was burnt and discovered.- Bernama
