6,000 youths to facilitate vaccination programme

KOTA BARU: Six thousand youths have been mobilised throughout the country to ensure the success of vaccine dispensing under the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme.

Deputy Youth and Sports Minister Wan Ahmad Fayhsal Wan Ahmad Kamal said the youths would assist the Health Ministry in disseminating information to the public, especially those in rural areas.

He said they would also be managing matters on administration of vaccination such as registration and reception including bringing individuals to vaccination centres.

“Those involved have been trained and briefed earlier so that they can clearly explain the programme to the people when they go house to house.

“They are tasked with providing details such as explaining what a vaccine is and its effects. They will also be helping people register via MySejahtera or at the nearest district health centre, ” he said here yesterday.

Wan Ahmad Fayhsal said the effort would be intensified as many people were still unclear on the vaccination programme.

“Among those in need of clarification are elderly folk. An example of that is Kelantan where vaccination registration is still low especially among senior citizens, ” he said.

Wan Ahmad Fayhsal said the ministry was confident the move to deploy youths would increase the take up rate and help make the programme a success. — Bernama
