PUTRAJAYA: Three villages in Pasir Mas, Kelantan, will be placed under the enhanced movement control order (MCO) beginning Sunday (May 9) after Covid-19 cases were reported in the locality.
The three villages are Kampung Paya Ular, Kampung Tualang and Kampung Bechah Palas, located in the Bunut Susu sub-district.
Senior Minister (Security) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said to date, a total of 120 positive cases were reported from the three localities.
There are currently 42 cases in Kampung Paya, 26 in Kampung Tualang and 52 in Kampung Bechah Palas.
"Health authorities have informed the MCO technical committee of the high infectivity rate.
"We have agreed to enforce enhanced MCO at the three villages for 14 days until May 22 to prevent further spread of the coronavirus," he said on Friday (May 7).
Ismail Sabri also announced that the enhanced MCO enforced on three localities has been lifted.
They are SM Sains Banting in Kuala Langat, Selangor; Maahad Tahfiz Sains in Tanah Merah, Kelantan; and Kampung Muhibbah Raya in Tawau, Sabah.
Ismail Sabri said 990 screenings had been carried out at SM Sains Banting where 113 positive cases were reported.
He said health authorities confirmed that cases were on the decline there as the last cases involving four students were reported on May 3.
"As for the situation in Maahad Tahfiz Sains, 866 screenings were carried out where 431 individuals were found to be positive.
“Cases are on the decline and individuals who are positive had been sent for treatment," he said.
The Senior Minister said the situation at Kampung Muhibbah Raya also recorded a downward trend.
A total of 622 individuals were earlier screened with 82 of them testing positive.
