Cleanliness and godliness: Follow all SOPs or close, places of worship in Negri warned

Negri Sembilan Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun.

SEREMBAN: All places of worship in Negri Sembilan have been warned to ensure all Covid-19 prevention standard operating procedures (SOPs) are adhered to or they will be ordered to close for one week, says Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun.

"If one worshipper forgets to bring his prayer mat to the mosque, for example, we will order the premises to be closed for one week.

"We have to strictly enforce the SOP if we are serious in bringing down the number of cases which have reached worrying levels," said the Negri Sembilan Mentri Besar.

He said that the decision was made at the state National Security Council meeting on Tuesday (May 4), after getting feedback that some worshippers and places of worship were not following SOP.

Aminuddin said the matter must be viewed seriously as there was a high number of cases in the state with 46 schools closed as of Tuesday (May 4).

Aminuddin also urged the people to register for Covid-19 vaccinations.

He said over 50% of those eligible for vaccinations in Seremban had already registered but it was only 35% in other districts.

He said 44% of the population in Negri had registered last week but it only increased to 46.2% now.

"This shows the response is really slow," he added.
