Several areas in Sabah and Sarawak under EMCO from May 1-14

PUTRAJAYA: Several localities in Sabah and Sarawak will be placed under the enhanced movement control order (MCO) from Saturday (May 1), says Senior Minister (Security) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob (pic).

In Sabah, the order will be enforced at Kampung Skim Cocos and SMK Madai, both in Kunak.

The minister said that to date, health authorities had screened 186 residents of Kampung Skim Cocos where eight were confirmed positive for Covid-19.

He said the authorities confirmed that the village is experiencing an increase in the number of cases.

At SMK Madai, health authorities carried out swab tests on 185 people where 18 tested positive.

"Health authorities informed the MCO technical health committee of a spike in cases in the school over the past week with high infectivity rate," he said on Friday (April 30).

In Sarawak, the enhanced MCO will be enforced at Kampung Sagah, Sungai Tengah Matang, in Kuching.

Ismail Sabri said 17 confirmed cases were reported from 148 screenings carried out on the villages.

All the affected localities will be under the enhanced MCO until May 14.

Ismal Sabri also announced that the earlier enhanced MCO on several localities has been lifted.

They are SM Sains Machang in Kelantan, Taman Mesra Bako in Kuching and Kampung Tengah in Betong, both in Sarawak.

The enhanced MCO has also been lifted at Taman Hilltop, Taman Bukit Bintang and Taman Berkley in Tawau, Sabah.
