Married couple arrested in Kelana Jaya over death of baby boy


PETALING JAYA: A married couple have been detained in connection with the alleged murder of a nine-month-old baby boy.

The victim was discovered to have bruises on his mouth and anus.

Petaling Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Mohamad Fakhrudin Abdul Hamid said the victim was brought to a hospital in Selangor on April 27 by a man believed to be his caretaker.

"The victim was unconscious and succumbed to his injury.

"A post-mortem revealed the extent of his injury," ACP Mohamad Fakhrudin said when contacted on Friday (April 30).

The married couple, aged 35, were then detained at their home in Kelana Jaya at about 8pm on Thursday (April 29), he added.

"The male suspect has past criminal records including for drug related offences.

"Both suspects have been remanded for seven days and we are investigating under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder," he said.
