Strong wind causes walkway roof to collapse at Teluk Intan Hospital, 15 cars damaged

IPOH: Fifteen cars were damaged when the roof of a pedestrian walkway at the Teluk Intan Hospital collapsed during a downpour.

Hilir Perak OCPD Asst Comm Ahmad Adnan Basri said the incident occurred at the staff parking lot near the outpatient treatment unit at about 4.30pm on Thursday (April 29).

“Our investigation found that a 30m stretch of the roof collapsed due to a strong wind during the downpour.

“Some of the cars had their windshields broken and bonnets damaged, ” he said, adding that no injuries were reported.

ACP Ahmad Adnan said police received a report from a 34-year-old physiotherapist with the hospital on the incident.

He said the physiotherapist’s car was one of the vehicles damaged.

“The hospital has taken the next course of action to clean up the area, ” he said.
