Firm director slapped with CBT charge

KUALA LUMPUR: A company director was charged in the Sessions Court here with committing criminal breach of trust (CBT) involving RM80,000.

Fong Kin Yew, 39, pleaded not guilty before judge Sabariah Othman yesterday.

He was charged, as a director of Soi 55 Sdn Bhd who was entrusted with the company’s funds, with committing CBT by using RM80,000 belonging to the company for his personal use at a restaurant in Jalan Solaris 5, Solaris Mont Kiara here between 8am and 5pm on March 16 last year.

The charge, under Section 409 of the Penal Code, provides for a maximum jail term of 20 years with whipping, and is also liable to a fine upon conviction. — Bernama
