Deputy CM: Special technical committee set up to tackle issue of illegal immigrants in Sabah

KOTA KINABALU: A state-level Special Technical Committee aimed at tackling illegal immigrant issues has been set up, says Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin (pic).

The Deputy Chief Minister said he would spearhead the committee with other state leaders while the security aspect would be led by Sabah Police Commissioner Datuk Hazani Ghazali.

"An illegal immigrant and foreign workers committee unit will be headed by Tan Sri Pandikar Amin Mulia and other security agencies and department personnel.

"The issue of illegal immigrants has been longstanding and needs to be resolved once and for all.

"That is why we have to set up a holistic committee to help us put an end to this problem," he said.

Bung said it was useless to point fingers and find faults as the main focus now should be to resolve it conclusively.

He urged all parties to work together and be fully committed to end the issue for the safety and welfare of all Sabahans.
