Cops investigating after woman claims beaten with a broom by drug-addict son

BUTTERWORTH: A 59-year-old woman allegedly suffered body pains after being beaten with a broom by her son at the Sri Bagan Flats Friday (April 23).

North Seberang Prai OCPD Asst Comm Noorzainy Mohd Noor said the incident happened at around 10am Friday when the victim arrived home to find her 24-year-old son hanging out with his friend.

"The victim had asked her son's friend to go home and this irked the suspect.

"He then hit the victim on her arm with a broom and on her head with his mobile phone.

"The victim then made a police report as she was scared after her son threatened to kill her if she made a police report," he said.

ACP Noorzainy said the victim said her son became more emotional after losing his source of income and supply of drugs.

"Police will continue to investigate the case as the suspect is believed to be a hardcore addict.

"The victim suffered from bodily pains but there were no bruises and she received treatment at the Kepala Batas Hospital," he said.
