Eight unharmed after van bursts into flames along NSE near Kulai


KULAI: Eight people escaped unhurt when the van in which they were travelling burst into flames along the North-South Expressway near here.

Bandar Baru Kulai Fire and Rescue Department operations commander Mohd Syafiq Rejab said the van suddenly caught fire at KM10 southbound on the expressway and an emergency call was made around 6.40am on Friday (April 23).

The 44-year-old woman driver and the seven factory workers she was transporting managed to escape from the burning van unharmed, he added.

“The fire spread throughout the vehicle, which was about 90% destroyed, ” Mohd Syafiq said.

He added that 13 firefighters were sent to the scene to put out the blaze, which was extinguished at about 7.20am.
