KOTA KINABALU: Sabah's state civil servants will also be given RM500 as special Hari Raya Aidilfitri aid, says Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor.

The state government has agreed to pay the special aid to civil servants from Grade 54 and below, including those attached to statutory state agencies and local authorities, he added.

"This special aid is in appreciation of the civil servants for their sacrifices and for carrying out their duties responsibly especially in facing the Covid-19 pandemic," he said in a statement on Friday (April 23).

He said the special aid will be paid out on May 7 with the civil servants' May salaries.

The state government's decision follows the Federal Government's decision to make a similar payment to federal civil servants.

Retired civil servants will also receive RM250.
