Two schools in Johor and Kelantan under EMCO from April 23-May 6


KUALA LUMPUR: SMK Agama Johor Baru and Maahad Tahfiz Al-Quran, Al-Asriah, Banggol Chicha, Pasir Mas, Kelantan will be placed under the enhanced movement control order (MCO) on Friday (April 23).

Senior Minister (Security) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said the Health Ministry conducted 228 screenings at the school in Johor Baru and 13 Covid-19 cases had been identified.

"As for the tahfiz in Kelantan, 46 screenings were conducted and 28 cases had been detected so far," he said in a statement on Thursday (April 22).

He said the MCO technical committee conducted a risk assessment for both schools and with the advice of the Health Ministry, the government agreed to implement the enhanced MCO there from April 23 to May 6.

Meanwhile, Ismail Sabri said the enhanced MCO in three localities in Sandakan, Sabah - Institut Latihan Perindustrian, Taman Permata and Taman Seri Labuk - would end on Friday (April 23).

The enhanced MCO in Kg Gayang, Tuaran in Sabah; Leepang and Laukin plantations as well as Kg Inoi in Rompin, Pahang would also end on Friday.

"At Kg Gayang, a total of 1,425 screenings were conducted and 36 cases were detected while at the three localities in Rompin, 312 screenings were conducted and 29 cases were detected," he said.

With the reduction in cases, the enhanced MCO at these localities will end as scheduled on Friday, he said.
