17 houses razed in blaze in Putatan

KOTA KINABALU (Bernama): Seventeen houses at Jalan Lok Kawi Lama-Kampung Dumpil, Putatan were destroyed in a fire on Wednesday night (April 21).

The Sabah Fire and Rescue Department operations centre, in a statement, said that it received an emergency call at 10.19pm via the MERS 999 and firefighters from the Penampang Fire and Rescue Station (BBP) were immediately deployed to the location about 14km away.

Firefighters from Kota Kinabalu BBP were also mobilised to the scene to assist in the firefighting process.

All 17 houses were completely destroyed in the incident, it said, adding that firefighters managed to control the fire from spreading to nearby areas after half an hour.

No casualties and injuries were reported while the cause of the incident and the losses incurred were still under investigation.

Meanwhile, the Putatan District Disaster Management Secretariat said that all victims will be housed at the Sri Keramat hall.- Bernama
