Three manage to escape police clutches on foot after high speed car chase

AMPANG: Three men in a Toyota Vellfire managed to evade the authorities following a high speed chase in Hulu Kelang.

Ampang Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Mohamad Farouk Eshak said police, around 4.15am on Monday (April 19), spotted the suspects acting suspiciously in the vehicle at Bulatan Hillview in Hulu Kelang, and ordered them to get out of the vehicle.

"However, the driver of the Vellfire sped off.

"The police gave chase, but after a while, the driver of the Vellfire lost control and drove into a drain the MEX expressway," he said when contacted Wednesday (April 21).

The suspects managed to escape on foot

Initial investigations revealed that the Vellfire was registered to a local owner and it was not reported stolen, he added.

"We also discovered a few black and white masks in the vehicle," he said.

ACP Mohamad Farouk said investigations showed that a foreign man had rented the vehicle from a rental company in Balakong.

"The vehicle's owner has since been called up to have his statement recorded," said ACP Mohamad Farouk, who urged anyone with information to contact the Ampang Jaya police headquarters or the nearest police station. ends
