S’wak TV anchors to broadcast from home

PETALING JAYA: Sarawak state-owned television station TVS will be shutting its newsroom temporarily after one of its presenters tested positive for Covid-19, says Sarawak Media Group chief executive officer Suhaimi Sulaiman.

He said news bulletins will be broadcast from the homes of its presenters as all employees have been directed to work from home.

“The temporary shutdown of the TVS newsroom due to Covid-19 will not break the spirit of our staff.

“News bulletins and programmes will continue but will be done at a safer place,” said Suhaimi in a statement yesterday.

He confirmed that he would also be broadcasting live from home.

“Covid-19 should not be used as an excuse for us not to work. Viewers still want the latest news updates.

“We must be a creative broadcaster by using the best way to continue to broadcast and think laterally to address problems,” he said.

Khairil Zhariff Affindie, who tested positive for Covid-19, will also broadcast from his special quarantine centre, added Suhaimi.
