Cop killed after motorcycle skidded, crashed at Penang Bridge

BUTTERWORTH: A policeman died when his motorcycle skidded and crashed into a pole at the Penang Bridge.

Central Seberang Prai OCPD Asst Comm Shafee Abd Samad said the victim, Muhamad Haikal Shaffik Abdul Rahim, 31, died at the scene after he lost control of his motorcycle and crashed into a pole at the motorcycle lane in the 5.05pm incident on Monday (April 19).

"The accident happened when the victim was travelling from Prai and heading towards the island, ” he said in a statement.

ACP Shafee said the victim, who was from the Kuala Muda district Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department, was pronounced dead by a medical officer at the scene.

He said the case will be investigated under Section 41 of the Road Transport Act 1987.
