Covid-19: Terengganu's Taman Rakyat cluster stems from interstate travel for wedding, says state Health director

KUALA TERENGGANU (Bernama): The Taman Rakyat cluster, a new Covid-19 cluster in Terengganu, stems from the interstate travel of a man from Sabah to attend his younger sibling’s wedding, which did not comply with the standard operating procedures (SOPs).

Terengganu Health director Dr Nor Azimi Yunus (pic) said a total of 26 cases tested positive for Covid-19 from the cluster, comprising 11 family members and 15 guests who attended the wedding.

"That's why we always advise the public to postpone events that involves large groups of people... We should all comply with the prescribed SOPs, ” she said in a Facebook post Thursday (April 15).

Currently, there are 238 active Covid-19 cases in Terengganu with the most cases recorded in Besut at 127, followed by Kuala Nerus (43), Dungun (27), Kuala Terengganu (27), Hulu Terengganu (seven), Marang (four) and Setiu (three).

The Taman Rakyat cluster, registered on April 15, is a community cluster involving the Dungun district.

The index case for the cluster was a 32-year-old man who tested positive for Covid-19 on April 6 when screened before returning to Sabah. - Bernama
