KUALA LUMPUR: Police are tracing the whereabouts of two Indian nationals who were reportedly abducted from a restaurant in Brickfields here.
Brickfields OCPD Asst Comm Anuar Omar said a group of at least 10 men stormed into the restaurant and dragged out two men by force.
The incident occurred at about 2pm on Tuesday (April 13) and was witnessed by workers at the restaurant.
"The manager of the restaurant lodged a report on the incident," ACP Anuar said in a statement on Tuesday.
A video of the incident is also being circulated on social media and WhatsApp.
The 19-second clip is believed to be from a security camera.
It shows three men tugging at one of the victim's clothes and pulling him out of the restaurant.
A couple of seconds later, three more men are seen pulling a second man out as he struggles to break free.
ACP Anuar said investigations revealed the suspects were taking back two workers who had fled from the restaurant where they worked in Pandamaran, Klang.
"One of the victims lodged a report on April 10 alleging his employer had not paid his salary," he said.
ACP Anuar added that the two victims had fled from Klang and were temporarily staying at the restaurant in Brickfields.
"We have classified the case as abduction under Section 365 of the Penal Code," he said.
He also urged anyone with information on the case to contact the police hotline at 03-2115 9999 or go to the nearest police station.
