Usno likely to be accepted into GRS

KOTA KINABALU: Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor has hinted that the Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) state government is open to accepting United Sabah National Organisation (Usno) into the coalition.

Hajiji, who is the Sabah chairman of Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia, said this during his speech at the party’s Kota Belud division anniversary ceremony on Saturday.

“Since Tan Sri Pandikar (Amin Mulia) is now Usno president, InsyaAllah (God willing), we will accept Usno into GRS, ” he said as he spoke in both Bajau and Malay.

Pandikar, who won the post of Usno president uncontested back in February, has said the party is pro-government.

He also revealed that Usno had submitted its application to join the government coalition but did not address back then whether it was the Perikatan Nasional or GRS.

Pandikar had also said that Hajiji’s decision to appoint him as the special envoy of BIMP-EAGA (Brunei-Indonesia-Malaysia-Philippines East Asean Growth Area) to represent the Sabah government showed that Usno and the government were on the same team.
