Man found drowned at Johor beach

JOHOR BARU: A man was found drowned at a beach in front of the Hospital Sultanah Aminah here.

Larkin Fire and Rescue Department operation commander Nordatul Badrol Abd Rahman said that the department received an emergency call at about 3am on Saturday (April 10) about a body found floating in the waters here.

"Nine firemen were deployed to the scene after receiving the call. Upon arriving, we found the body floating about 15 feet (4.5m) away from the beach," he said in a statement here.

He said that the man was declared dead by the Health Department officers at the scene.

"The body has been handed over to the police for further action," he said.

Johor Baru South OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Padzli Mohd Zain confirmed that the police have received the case and that it is currently classified as a sudden death.
