Cop loses two toes after being hit by fleeing biker

PETALING JAYA: A policeman suffered serious injuries to his left leg after he was ran over by a suspect fleeing on a motorcycle.

Petaling Jaya deputy OCPD Supt Ku Mashariman Ku Mahmood said the policeman had two of his toes severed after the suspect’s motorcycle hit him at the motorcycle lane of the Federal Highway on Wednesday.

“He was performing checks on the 49-year-old suspect at the motorcycle lane at about 1.20pm, he said yesterday.

Supt Ku Mashariman said the injured policeman had been sent to a private hospital in Shah Alam for treatment.

“We discovered 11.89g of heroin and a bottle of liquid – believed to be ketum water – on the suspect, who tested negative for drugs, ” he added.

The suspect, who did not have a previous criminal record, will be remanded for further investigations.
