SEGAMAT: The Health Ministry intends to determine why most Malaysians have yet to register for the Covid-19 vaccine, says minister Datuk Seri Dr Adham Baba.
He said the ministry was targeting 70% to 80% of Malaysians to register for the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme, but only 7.6 million out of the 26.7 million people eligible had registered through the MySejahtera app.
“I am not satisfied. The ministry is not satisfied. We will find out why they did not register.
“Is the campaign not compelling enough, or are they are concerned and want to wait and see?
“Are they not getting coverage of the MySejahtera app in their areas, or is it due to lack of knowledge?
“Thus far, seven million have registered – (the number) is still low, ” he told a press conference after officiating the district-level Malaysia Prihatin Covid-19 Vaccination: Protect Yourself, Protect All programme here yesterday.
Dr Adham said the ministry hoped the registration would increase before the second phase of the vaccination programme, commencing on April 17, to avoid difficulties in the final phase.
He added that manual registration at health offices, health clinics, government and private hospitals had been opened to make it easier for residents without Internet access to register for vaccination. — Bernama
