‘Bukit Aman probes all reports of SOP violation’

NILAI: Police investigate all reports involving VVIPs who are alleged to have breached the Covid-19 standard operating procedure and guidelines, says Bukit Aman.

Federal CID director Comm Datuk Huzir Mohamed said police received 12 such reports since the movement control order was first enforced.

“All these cases have been investigated. Some VVIPs who were found to have breached the SOP were issued with compounds which were settled by them.

“Three cases were classified as NFA (no further action) as our investigations showed they had complied with the SOP or were on official duty during the period, ” he said after opening the Nilai police headquarters yesterday.

Comm Huzir said police were still investigating reports on a recent visit by Senior Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob to the Sendayan air force camp, the wedding of Jelebu MP Datuk Jalaluddin Alias’ daughter at a hotel in Seremban and Housing and Local Government Minister Datuk Zuraida Kamaruddin, who launched a cycling event in Kuala Lumpur.

“We have recorded a statement from the hotel management and will probe the matter further.

“As for the minister’s visit to the camp, we will be recording a statement from the event organiser.

“On the cycling event, Brickfields police said there was no violation of the SOP but we will record a statement from the OCPD to wrap up investigations, ” he said.

Comm Huzir said the police would act accordingly if there was a violation of the SOP.

Asked on the status of investigation involving former premier Datuk Seri Najib Razak who did not use the MySejahtera app to check in before dining at a restaurant, Comm Huzir said the probe would be completed soon.

In a Facebook post on March 19, Najib admitted that he did not check in via the app and was prepared to pay a fine.
