KUALA LUMPUR: Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) top leaders are currently holed up at the Perikatan Nasional headquarters to discuss the response of the party to what transpired at Umno’s AGM on Sunday (March 28).
Sources said that it is a political bureau meeting.
The meeting which started at 8pm, was chaired by Bersatu President Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.
In attendance are Bersatu deputy president Datuk Seri Ahmad Faisal Azumu, the three vice presidents Datuk Seri Ronald Kiandee, Datuk Seri Radzi Jidin, Datuk Rafiq Nazamohideen, secretary-general Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainuddin and women's wing chief Datuk Seri Rina Harun.
Also spotted were a few other ministers such as Datuk Seri Azmin Ali and Datuk Seri Mohd Redzuan Md Yusof.
"The political bureau will decide our response to what Umno President Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi had stated in his speech that all Umno ministers must resign from the Perikatan Nasional government when the Umno supreme council decided to cut ties with Bersatu.
"We will then present our decisions to the Bersatu supreme council meeting later," said the source.
On Sunday, Ahmad Zahid said all Umno ministers and deputy ministers are bound to quit as and when the Umno supreme council decided to cut ties with Bersatu.
Umno and Bersatu ties have been strained in the past few months despite both being part of the Perikatan government.
