KK jewellery shop site of one of Sabah's two new clusters

KOTA KINABALU: One of the two new clusters in Sabah Saturday (March 27) involves a staff member at a jewellery shop here.

Dubbed the Inanam Taipan cluster, it has nine cases so far, said State Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun.

"The index case, who is a customer service staff, was confirmed positive following symptomatic screening on Mar 16.

"Based on investigation, it was a community infection," he said in a statement.

Meanwhile, the Jalan Kastam Baru cluster at Lahad Datu had six cases.

Masidi said the cluster was traced on Thursday (March 25) where the index case, an enforcement officer, was confirmed positive through symptomatic screening at a government clinic.

"Following this, close contact screening and at his workplace were done on 51 individuals," he said, adding that source of infection is still being investigated.

On another development, Masidi said the enhanced MCO at Kampung Lingkudau, Keningau will be lifted Sunday (March 28) as scheduled.

Sabah recorded 64 cases Saturday, with one fatality reported in Tawau.
