JOHOR BARU: A Felda Technoplant Sdn Bhd (FTP) manager and a Koperasi Peneroka Felda Tenang Bhd secretary have been arrested for allegedly being involved in corruption and abuse of power.
The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) arrested the two men, aged between 39 and 50, separately on Thursday (March 25) and Friday (March 26).
The company manager was arrested at about 3pm on Friday at the Johor MACC office for allegedly receiving bribes of more than RM140,000 from a construction company in return for maintenance works in an oil palm plantation under the supervision of the Felda Technoplant Sdn Bhd (FTP) in Mersing.
Meanwhile, the Koperasi Peneroka Felda Tenang Berhad secretary was arrested on Thursday for using his position to obtain palm oil collection work at Felda Tenang worth about RM30,000.
The cases are being investigated under Section 16(a)(A) and Section 23 of the MACC Act 2009 where if convicted, fines of five times the amount of bribes or RM10,000, could be imposed and a maximum of 20 years’ jail.
When contacted, Johor MACC director Datuk Azmi Alias confirmed the arrests.
