KOTA KINABALU: A 15-year-old hostage, who was among five Indonesians snatched from Tambisan waters off Sabah's east coast last year, was rescued by the Philippines military during a firefight.
Khairul Kastimaran managed to flee from his captors and ran towards Philippine troops who were in a gun battle with the notorious Abu Sayyaf kidnap leader sub-commander Mike Apo on an island in Tawi-Tawi close to Sabah on Saturday (March 20).
